The first of few.

Congratulations on finding my first blog post.  These are supposed to be stories so I guess I could tell you one.

I will start by telling you all of these stories are original.  I will give credit where needed.  That doesn't mean they are all true, but I'm no thief.

We'll start off gently.

I own an electric piano.  I keep it in the basement and often play it before going to bed, or instead of going to bed when I can't sleep.  It seems to help.

One night when I couldn't sleep, I found myself playing the piano again. I remembered that one of the features of the instrument was having the ability to record pieces of music.  You could set the metronome, play a song, then play it back.  It was a very simple feature.  You couldn't play around with it much and it was very easy to accidently delete a track by playing over an old one.

So, at this point I had no idea what track would be on the piano if I were to select 'records' and hit play.  I assumed it would be some simplistic garbage I had done years ago, possibly Heart and Soul.  Obviously I was curious.  I hit play.

What played was not Heart and Soul.  It wasn't even a song I remembered playing.  In fact, I don't think I even have the musical capability to play the song that played.  It was beautiful.  I was in awe and a little bit scared.

Before you assume someone in my family or one of my friends did it, let me tell you that this is my piano and most of friends and family don't play music or know my piano even has a recording feature.  So there.

I've listened to the track multiple times and I've never been able to figure out what the song is.  To this day I'm very careful not to play over it because I'm dead set on figuring it out.

One day I'll download the app, Shazam, and see if that can figure it out.  But who has time for that?
